Rather than going back to Kurort Rathen from the Bastei, I decided to continue on to Stadt Wehlen which is the next stop on the train line. This proved to be a good move. While the forest passages this far had been unremarkable, this one was not. The walk lead through a forest that that was deep and dark and still wet after the rain that had ended the heatwave, and it was full of steep rocks offering interesting sights.
